The holiday season is one of my most favorite... ever. There is just JOY in the air. The lights on the trees make me just GLOW inside! and food... I like food... I don't like the aftermath of food... the whole "Lets gain 7.5 lbs in 3 hours!" yeah, not a huge fan of that. But I like food. And the people... sometimes!
And birthdays. How many of you have birthdays in December? I have tons of friends with birthdays in December. My baby sister Bean (awesome code name) is turning 10 in just a week. My dear friend DJ turns 17 in 7 days as well. Today is the 18th birthday of an old friend of mine, Tom. As well as my deceased friend Kathy, who would have turned 80 today. So happy birthday to everybody who has a birthday this time of year!
December also is just gentle for me. Its a gentle time of year where I feel like I can slow down and just take in everything. I feel like I don't have to rush. I can sit in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea and just relax. The lights, twinkling around me, soft Christmas music in the back ground, children running around screaming. Just relaxing. :)
And the food. I like food.
We always make Christmas gifts for each other at my house. As tradition, my sister Tone (code name) always has her gifts done first. Seriously! She starts making her gifts the day after Halloween! NOT COOL! YOU FORGOT THANKSGIVING YOU SILLY TEENAGER! But Tone always has fantastic gifts. One year she made me a necklace that I LOVE.
I also love waking up early on Christmas morning with the kids. Sneaking down the stairs, grabbing the stockings, rushing upstairs, looking through our loot, then putting EVERYTHING back how it was before, and putting it back where it goes. That never gets old.
